Only 13 states in the country do not have a real estate transfer tax on the sale of a property. The state of Missouri is one of them. Personally, I would like it to stay that way. Transfer taxes appears to be "double taxation" since we pay property tax already. A transfer tax is currently allowed per the Missouri Constitution, but no taxes have been collected. There are many people committed to the stop of any potential future real estate transfer taxes, and the Missouri Association of Realtors is the biggest supporter of the proposed constitutional amendment.
